Adidas continues its legacy of high-profile collaborations, yet its partnership with Australian label Song for the Mute, known for its distinctive and impactful designs, has often been overshadowed. This is set to change with the launch of ADI007, their ambitious seventh project, a comprehensive collection of footwear and apparel.
Footwear Reimagined
Drawing inspiration from the founders’ school uniform memories, the collection reimagines two iconic Adidas silhouettes. The Samba LX Freizeit is transformed into a style reminiscent of a classic school shoe, featuring full leather uppers in black or brown, a perforated toe box, and a robust tread sole.
Courtesy of Song for the MuteThe Tokyo model adopts a more casual, gym-class aesthetic with a mesh and nylon upper. It is presented in three sophisticated colorways: a warm tan, a vibrant electric blue, and a understated black, all accented with contrasting suede stripes and complemented by cream-colored soles.
Apparel with a Vintage Edge
The apparel collection mirrors the footwear’s nostalgic theme. Two distressed t-shirts feature a uniquely rendered Adidas logo, faded colors, and a discolored effect, evoking a well-worn favorite. Complementing these are sturdy black Adidas gym shorts, an oversized rugby-style polo shirt, and loose-fitting gray trousers, all echoing the school uniform aesthetic. The collection is rounded out with two distinctly boxy, full-zip Adidas jackets, channeling a retro rock-and-roll sensibility.
The Song for the Mute x Adidas ADI007 collection will be available globally through Adidas starting May 15th. Footwear is priced between $150 and $180, with apparel ranging from $50 to $200.
Business Style Takeaway: This collaboration offers a unique blend of athletic-inspired comfort and refined design, ideal for executives seeking to infuse a contemporary, yet sophisticated, edge into their business casual attire. The vintage-inspired pieces project a personality that is both trend-aware and grounded in classic style.
