Catalan sensation Rosalía was honoured as International Songwriter of the Year, while Scottish alt-folk artist Jacob Alon secured the award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically for “Don’t Fall Asleep,” triumphing over strong competition. Sir Elton John was also recognized for his enduring legacy, appointed as the inaugural president of The Ivors Academy.

The Ivor Novello Awards hold significant weight within the UK music landscape, specifically celebrating the art and craft of songwriting. Fender’s win was attributed to his “sharp social commentary and emotionally honest songwriting,” qualities evident in his acclaimed albums.

Rosalía’s award highlighted her innovative approach, with the Academy commending her for “pushing the boundaries of global songwriting and experimental pop” through her genre-blending work. Upon accepting her award, Rosalía took the opportunity to advocate for greater diversity in the industry, noting that many talented writers are overlooked due to systemic biases.
