Fans have endured a prolonged wait for the latest season of Euphoria, navigating cast shifts, the tragic losses of beloved actors Angus Cloud and Eric Dane, and now, with the Season 3 finale airing, the distinct possibility that the series may conclude.
The Season 3 finale, titled “In God We Trust,” is set to premiere on Sunday, May 31, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on HBO and HBO Max. Clocking in at 93 minutes, this episode is notably one of the longest in HBO’s history, rivaling the 90-minute finale of “White Lotus” Season 3 and the 82-minute third episode of “Game of Thrones” Season 8. If this marks the end of the Emmy-winning series, creator Sam Levinson is certainly not going out quietly.
Spoiler alert: In the preceding episode, Nate Jacobs, portrayed by Jacob Elordi, met his demise after being buried alive and subsequently bitten by a rattlesnake. Rue, played by Zendaya, infiltrated drug dealer Laurie’s basement safe, only to discover it contained no cash, but rather photographs and identification cards. Fern then alerted her dangerous white supremacist associate, Wayne, to Rue’s actions.
Zendaya’s character has had a precarious journey this season, and her foreboding voiceover in Episode 7, stating “If there’s a beginning, there must be an end,” strongly suggests what is to come in the highly anticipated conclusion airing tonight.
Will There Be A Season 4 Of Euphoria?
HBO has not yet officially confirmed a fourth season for Euphoria, noting the upcoming episode as a “season finale” rather than a “series finale,” which leaves the door open for future installments. However, remarks from the show’s creator and lead cast members suggest that this may indeed be the series’ conclusion.
Prior to the Season 3 premiere in April, Sam Levinson informed Variety that he writes “every season like it’s the last season” and currently has “no plans” for a Season 4. When questioned about the show’s future in a separate interview with ExtraTV, he responded with an unequivocal, “I have no idea” regarding its continuation.

“We’ll see what HBO wants, what I feel like I can do to deliver,” Levinson elaborated, adding, “I don’t know.” He also expressed his anticipation for spending time with his family and taking a period of rest.
Zendaya, on the other hand, offered a more direct response when asked about the show’s prospects. During an appearance on “The Drew Barrymore Show,” the actress indicated, “I think so, yeah,” when Barrymore inquired if it was the final season, adding, “That closure is coming.”
Cast Schedules Could Make Season 4 Difficult To Pull Off
A primary impediment to the production of a potential Season 4 of Euphoria lies in the demanding schedules of its cast. While the series propelled many of its stars to widespread recognition, they are now among the most sought-after actors in Hollywood. With the departure of Elordi’s character, coordinating the availability of other key cast members, such as Zendaya and Sydney Sweeney, presents a significant logistical challenge.
This year, Zendaya is slated to portray the goddess Athena in Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of “The Odyssey,” scheduled for theatrical release on July 17. Additionally, she will reprise her role as MJ in “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” this summer.
Furthermore, she is set to return as Chani in Denis Villeneuve’s concluding chapter of the “Dune” trilogy, slated for release on December 18, 2026. This date interestingly coincides with the release of “Avengers: Doomsday,” a film in which MJ might potentially appear, given her association with the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Barry Jenkins is directing Zendaya in “Be My Baby,” a film chronicling the life of singer Ronnie Spector, with Dave Kajganich penning the screenplay, according to Deadline. Zendaya is also lending her voice to the daughter of Shrek and Fiona in “Shrek 5,” joining Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, and Eddie Murphy. The sequel is anticipated to premiere on June 30, 2027.

Regarding Sydney Sweeney, she is set to star in “Scandalous!” for Miramax, a project that will mark the feature directorial debut of her “Euphoria” co-star, Colman Domingo. Sweeney is also currently filming the live-action “Gundam” film for Netflix and Legendary, alongside Noah Centineo, as reported by Deadline.
In addition, Sweeney is attached to “Custom of the Country,” an adaptation of Edith Wharton’s novel. In October 2025, it was announced that the actress would collaborate with director Justin Lin on “That Man From Rio,” an Apple Original adventure comedy for which she will also serve as an executive producer.
The sequel to her successful 2025 thriller “The Housemaid,” titled “The Housemaid’s Secret,” has already secured a release date of December 2027. Furthermore, Sweeney has been attached for over three years to star in and produce a “Barbarella” remake for Sony Pictures.

Business Style Takeaway: The potential conclusion of “Euphoria” highlights the complex interplay between creative vision, audience demand, and the burgeoning individual career trajectories of its star cast. For media executives, this scenario underscores the strategic challenge of balancing long-term series potential against the immediate opportunities and financial incentives presented by individual talent’s marketability.
