Moscow is bidding farewell to actor and comedian Roman Popov, who died of cancer. According to his close friend, showman Oganes Grigoryan, the artist's body will be cremated. This decision is in line with Popov's own wishes: his ashes are planned to be scattered over the Black Sea.
According to Grigoryan, this particular place held special significance for the actor. Popov had many personal memories associated with the sea.
The actor's family had previously considered another option: cremation followed by burial of the urn at Troekurovskoye Cemetery. However, according to relatives, the final decision was made to honor the actor's wishes.
Roman Popov died on October 28 at the age of 41. He was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2018. After surgery and extensive treatment, the artist achieved remission and returned to work.
In 2025, the disease returned. In the summer, Popov reported that doctors had recorded a relapse, more severe than the previous one. He wrote that the disease had affected the areas of the brain responsible for vision and hearing. Despite his worsening condition, the artist continued treatment and maintained contact with fans. His last post on his page appeared in early September, thanking his followers for their support and announcing his new course of therapy.
Roman Popov was born in Konotop and grew up in the Mari El Republic. After high school, he enrolled in the Mari State Pedagogical Institute, where he began performing in KVN (KVN). He later moved to Moscow, participated in the program “Comedy Battle,” and became known to a wider audience for his role as Igor Mukhich in the series “Policeman from Rublyovka.”
