“Policeman from Rublyovka” star Roman Popov died after a relapse of brain cancer.

Actor Roman Popov, known to viewers for his role as investigator Mukhich in the series “Policeman from Rublyovka,” passed away after a long illness. He was 40.

Popov was first diagnosed with a brain tumor several years ago. After successful treatment, he returned to work, but in the summer of 2024, the disease resurfaced. In August, the artist revealed that complications had left him almost blind.

Popov was not only an actor but also a man with a vivid sense of humor, which remained with him even during difficult times. He admitted that his illness taught him to appreciate life and maintain a sense of self-irony.

The actor's most recognizable role was Mukhich, the good-natured and naive investigator who became one of the series' icons. Popov admitted he was afraid of being trapped in a single role, but eventually came to love the character.

Following the project's success, he starred in the spin-off “Mukhich's Detective Agency,” co-starring with Sofia Kashtanova. In addition to his acting career, Popov participated in KVN (Club of the Funny and Inventive) and comedy shows.

Despite the difficult treatment, the artist continued to joke. He said he viewed chemotherapy as a “cheat code for speed” – a way to return to life more quickly.

Roman Popov was married to Yulia Popova for almost twenty years. They have three children: Fyodor, Elizaveta, and Marta.
