The Hawaiian actor shocked fans with a new look ahead of filming.
Jason Momoa has always been known for his muscular frame, long hair, and thick beard. Recently, he was preparing for his role in the upcoming Dune sequel with Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya and filmed himself shaving his iconic beard. In a blog post, Jason explained that he started growing his beard around the time he launched his water brand Mananalu in 2019.
I think it was six years ago when I started growing a beard and I started Mananalu. At that time, I think we were one of the first to come out with an aluminum bottle,” he explained. “And now, six years later, airports are banning single-use plastic. That’s a positive change. My goal is really to stop this plastic from being imported. Stop it. We don’t need it,” he said, referring to his home state of Hawaii.

As he spoke, Jason slowly shaved off his famous beard, drawing attention to the environmental issue.
“Just for you, Denis,” he joked, referring to director Denis Villeneuve and the time he shaved his beard for the first Dune film. “Damn it! I hate it, I haven’t shaved in six years, and now I’m doing it again.”
