Ben Askren has risen to prominence in the mixed martial arts and boxing scene despite retiring from the sport in 2019. One of the former fighter’s most memorable fights was an April 2021 showdown with Jake Paul , who he won. And while fighters typically trade insults before matches, Jake decided to send a shout-out to Ben six years later after he underwent a double lung transplant following serious pneumonia.

Ben Askren was on the U.S. Olympic freestyle wrestling team
Ben was a two-time state champion at Arrowhead High School in Wisconsin before continuing his college wrestling career at the University of Missouri, where he won NCAA titles in 2006 and 2007. He is currently in the University of Missouri Intercollegiate Athletic Hall of Fame.
After graduating from the University of Missouri in 2007, Ben went on to compete for the U.S. wrestling team at the 2008 Summer Olympics. Although he did not win any medals, Ben occasionally competed in wrestling tournaments. In 2010, he defeated Ivan Fundoru , who had previously defeated him in the Olympics, at the Cerro Pelado International in Cuba.

Jake has never been one to back down from his opponents. Since making his MMA debut in 2009, Ben has had many notable successes and is best known as the Bellator Welterweight Champion and ONE Welterweight Champion. He went undefeated during his contract with ONE Championship and left
