Hamptons Horizon: Where Heritage Meets High Society Living

At his Hamptons beach house, Andy Cohen finds daily solace in the ocean, describing it as his “absolute therapy.” The television producer and host cherishes moments spent lounging in the hot tub or absorbing the Atlantic’s sounds from the home’s seamlessly integrated indoor-outdoor spaces, a hard-won serenity for a figure known for marathon reunion episodes and constant on-air engagement.

A Lifelong Aspiration Realized

Cohen’s fascination with the beach began in his youth in St. Louis, where it represented a “literal and metaphorical paradise,” a symbol of aspiration and escape. Even after moving to Manhattan, he consistently sought refuge in the Hamptons, renting for nearly three decades before acquiring a coveted beachfront property. This modest half-acre plot became the canvas for his imagined family sanctuary.

Architectural Vision and Interior Harmony

Cohen desired a home that was “as simple and connected to nature as possible, nothing precious or fancy, someplace you could track sand into.” He collaborated with architect Gordon Kahn, drawing inspiration from modernist Horace Gifford and architect Jack Hall’s Hatch House. Kahn navigated the site’s topographical challenges and coastal building regulations, resulting in a structure raised 14 feet above ground. The design cleverly carves out alfresco spaces, including a covered living area, within its approximately 2,450 square feet, which accommodates four bedrooms.

An Oasis of Color and Comfort

Complementing the architectural vision, interior designer Jackie Greenberg, a lifelong friend, infused the home with Cohen’s vibrant personality. The interiors draw inspiration from the natural surroundings: azure tiles and Douglas fir cabinetry in the kitchen evoke the coast, while pale beige brickwork on the four fireplaces mirrors the dunes. The primary suite features a symphony of blues, from the upholstered headboard to the wave-patterned wallpaper, reflecting the sea and sky. Greenberg introduced distinctive pieces like Max Lamb coffee tables and Sergio Rodrigues armchairs, balancing Cohen’s love for color and pattern with refined selections. Bathrooms are treated as vibrant sanctuaries, adorned with colorful mosaic swirls for a “super colorful and funky” aesthetic.

A Haven for Relaxation and Entertainment

The house is designed for both tranquil personal retreats and lively entertaining. The roof terrace offers a sophisticated setting for cocktail hours, while ample dining spaces—an indoor table for 14 and an outdoor table for eight—accommodate larger gatherings. Cohen, who enjoys barbecuing, finds his greatest joy in spontaneous get-togethers with friends who gather on his private beach path. This home is a testament to the power of design to foster both personal rejuvenation and joyful connection.

Cohen describes the home as his place to “recharge,” a stark contrast to his high-energy professional life. The design prioritizes comfort and connection to nature, with ample outdoor spaces encouraging relaxation. The exterior spiral staircase leading to the primary suite’s outdoor shower offers a private sanctuary for unwinding while watching the sunset.
