The volatile environment has left viewers wondering who might be next. Many even wondered if some daytime shows, like The View, were being taken off the air. Now that The View is temporarily on hiatus, could it be permanently shut down?

Is the show cancelled?
No, ABC hasn’t canceled The View. Rumors of its cancellation have been circulating on social media since at least 2024, with many criticizing the show for its political segments. While all of the co-hosts have criticized Donald Trump and his administration, Whoopi stands out as the show’s most vocal critic. However, Joy managed to rub the bear so hard that the White House responded to her comments in July 2025. She joked that Trump was “jealous” of former President Barack Obama .
“Joy Behar is a loser who suffers from a severe case of Trumpian Derangement Syndrome,” a White House spokesman told several media outlets. “No wonder The View’s ratings fell to record lows last year. She should think about her envy of President Trump’s historic popularity before her show is the next one to go off the air.”
According to The Wrap, The View’s highest viewership in the last two years was in February 2024. Executive producer Brian Teta told the publication at the time that the increase in viewership was due in part to the guest appearances they’ve brought on in recent years.
“Daytime audiences watch The View for news and politics, and this presidential election year is off to a great start,” Bryan told The Wrap. “We had some great political guests in January, including Vice President Kamala Harris , Liz Cheney , and Chris Christie , and this week we welcomed Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries . Cancelled News Shows
In late 2024 and early 2025, many news programs were canceled. Joy Reid’s MSNBC show, The ReidOut, is reportedly going off the air. Previously, CBS Evening News’ Norah O’Donnell , Today’s Hoda Kotb , Fox News’ Neil Cavuto , and several other anchors have left their posts.
