Why Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s $100 Million Netflix Deal Won’t Be Renewed

The couple signed a $100 million contract back in 2020.

Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan’s partnership with Netflix is officially ending.

The California couple’s long-term contract with Netflix will not be renewed when it expires in September, The Sun reported Wednesday morning. The couple signed a five-year, $100 million deal with the streaming service in 2020, when they left their royal residences in London and began a new life in Montecito, California.

A source close to Meghan and Harry told Harper’s Bazaar in May that partnering with the streaming service was a great choice for them, giving them the creative freedom to create content that aligns with their values, from mental health initiatives to social change.

To date, Meghan and Harry have released five significant projects in five years, including the acclaimed couples docuseries Harry & Meghan, which became Netflix’s highest-profile documentary debut upon its release and remains the company’s second-most-watched documentary series.

And while the As Ever founder’s latest project, Love, Megan, has made the Netflix Top 10 global chart in 47 countries, the series didn’t make the streaming platform’s top 300 most-watched shows, according to Netflix’s latest viewership report.

The report, published on July 17 and covering the first half of 2025, found Meghan’s lifestyle and cooking series ranked 383rd with 5.3 million views.
