King Charles III feels better as cancer treatment continues

The British monarch was diagnosed with cancer in February 2024.

King Charles III is feeling better during cancer treatment.

The monarch shared an update on his health while meeting a cancer survivor during a visit to Newmarket with Queen Camilla.

One of the men, Lee Harman, chatted to the king while Charles greeted locals. Harman told the PA news agency: “I asked him how he was feeling and he said he was feeling much better and that it was just ‘one of those things’.”

Discussing his cancer problems, Harman told Charles: “He asked me how I was feeling and I said, ‘I’m fine.’ I was completely cancer-free last year.”

Buckingham Palace has provided little update on Charles’ health and condition since he was diagnosed with cancer in February 2024 following surgery to remove a benign prostate enlargement. The type of cancer has not been disclosed, and the king is still undergoing treatment as of July 2025.

“The King expresses his gratitude to his medical team for the prompt intervention made possible by his recent operation at the hospital,” the palace said in a statement last February. “He remains entirely positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to his duties as soon as possible.”

Catherine, Princess of Wales, also confirmed her cancer diagnosis in March 2024. She is currently in remission.

Charles returned to duty just weeks after starting cancer treatment, and although he suffered a scare in March this year when he was hospitalised due to side effects from the treatment, he is now in good spirits and busier than ever.
